Advanced Capabilities of Label Image Overlays

Label image overlays are a powerful tool for visualizing and mining the output of complex and high-volume image analysis results in microscopy images. These overlays allow researchers to visualize complex data layers, such as image segmentation results directly on the image, facilitating more detailed interpretation. New Feature: Partial Label Image Support

In previous versions, label images were required to cover the entire image field, which limited flexibility in certain workflows. PathViewer 3.11.0 introduces support for partial label images, enabling users to visualize and analyze only specific regions of interest without needing complete image coverage.

New OMERO.web API for OMERO.tables

Glencoe Software has made significant contributions to the open source OMERO.web API for interaction with tabular analytical data stored as OMERO.tables. This work is further detailed in our OMERO Plus release notes. PathViewer is now a consumer of this improved API, enabling more reactive interactions with label image overlays with associated measurement or classification results, particularly when working with millions of objects (cells, nuclei, etc.).

Other highlights

  • New Feature - ROI Locking: PathViewer now includes support for locking annotations, providing users with greater control when working with overlapping or crowded region of interest (ROI) annotations.

Bug Fixes and Maintenance

  • PathViewer’s OMERO.figure dependency has been updated to support export functionality.
  • A bug has been fixed in the intialization of the slide list filter for key/value pairs.
