Thank you for using PathViewer! This release delivers greater flexibility for collaborative annotation workflows and addresses scalability challenges in multiplexed spatial biology.

Annotation Workflow Enhancements

Building on ROI locking introduced in PathViewer 3.11.0, and predefined ROI styles introduced in PathViewer 3.5.0, these complementary updates enable seamless transition between annotation creation and secure review. PathViewer now offers:

  • Per-ROI locking to allow individual annotations to be locked or unlocked directly from the ROI list using new lock icons, preventing accidental edits during collaborative review.
  • Configurable defaults to allow administrators to define system-wide locking behaviors (e.g., lock all ROIs on load or after creation) via OMERO configuration.

Scalability Improvements

  • Support for unlimited channels in the channel toolbar in both PathViewer and PathViewer GRID with a space-efficient horizontal scrollbar, removing previous limits for highly multiplexed workflows.
  • Simplified analytical data management by removing the restriction on OMERO.tables to require a column referencing the ROI ID for the associated label image. Linkages between OMERO.tables and associated label images were established in PathViewer 3.9.0, streamlining integration with AI/ML pipelines.

Integration with Pageant

  • Cell or other object populations defined within Pageant, Glencoe’s newest data mining interface, can now be explored within PathViewer and vice versa.

Bug Fixes & Maintenance

  • Consistent labels for “Channel Group Sets,” “Label Image Displays,” and “ROI Orders” improve UI clarity.
  • Strict adherence to server-side tile size limits prevents rendering artifacts.
  • Fixed console errors when querying OMERO.tables without ROI-associated rows.
  • Fixed a bug where manually entering zoom level causes unintended tool shortcuts to trigger.
  • Improved clarity for documentation examples for stroke dash patterns.

Python 3.9+ is now required, aligning with modern security standards.
